Israeli Airstrikes in Gaza Kill Four, Including Al Jazeera Journalist

Four people were killed in Israeli airstrikes in the Gaza Strip, including Al Jazeera journalist Muhammad Washah, local health authorities and the Qatari news network reported.

Washah and another Palestinian were killed when their vehicle was hit along the coastal road in Gaza City. Al Jazeera said he died in a drone strike, while Gaza’s Hamas-run media condemned the attack.

Israel previously accused Washah of being linked to Hamas’ military wing during the 2024 conflict, claims denied by both him and Al Jazeera. Israel did not immediately comment on the latest strike.

In a separate incident, two more people were killed in central Gaza by Israeli airstrikes, according to medics. No comment was provided by Israeli authorities.

The violence comes amid ongoing tensions despite a U.S.-brokered ceasefire agreement in October 2025. Since then, Israeli strikes have killed at least 700 people in Gaza, while militants killed four Israeli soldiers.

The Committee to Protect Journalists has documented 223 media workers killed in Gaza, Lebanon, and Israel over recent years, including Al Jazeera and Reuters staff. Israel maintains it targets only combatants and military sites, though journalists remain at risk in conflict zones.

This latest strike underscores the continuing dangers faced by civilians and reporters amid the long-running Israeli-Palestinian conflict.
