Romelu Lukaku has held positive talks with Napoli to resolve recent tensions and update the club on his injury recovery, according to reports.
The 32-year-old striker, who has missed most of the season due to a hamstring injury, travelled to Naples for discussions described as “calm, collaborative and constructive.” The meeting also included his agent Federico Pastorello and Napoli sporting director Giovanni Manna.
Lukaku has spent much of his recovery period in Belgium after suffering a setback, limiting him to just seven appearances this season. His last appearance came as a substitute in Napoli’s 2-1 win over Torino in March.
Earlier reports suggested Napoli had considered disciplinary action after the club believed Lukaku had not followed instructions to return to training in Italy. However, after the recent talks, the situation has now been resolved amicably, with sources saying the matter is closed.
During the meeting, Lukaku also provided an update on his rehabilitation progress. He is currently continuing recovery work in Belgium, away from Napoli’s training centre.
The former Manchester United, Chelsea and Everton striker is expected to return to full fitness in the coming weeks. Napoli are hopeful he could be available for selection again in around two weeks, depending on his recovery.
Despite the earlier tension, both the club and player are now understood to be focused on moving forward as Napoli continues their campaign. The discussions have helped clear the air and ensure alignment on Lukaku’s rehabilitation plan.
Lukaku’s absence has been a significant setback for Napoli, who have relied on squad rotation in attack during his recovery period. His return is expected to provide a boost as the season approaches its final stages.
For now, the priority remains his full recovery, with both sides optimistic that he will soon be back in contention for first-team action
