U.S. President Donald Trump confirmed on Wednesday that negotiations over the Iran crisis will take place behind closed doors, emphasizing that only one set of “meaningful points” is acceptable to the United States. He offered no additional details about the discussions.
“These are the POINTS that are the basis on which we agreed to a CEASEFIRE. It is something that is reasonable, and can easily be dispensed with,” Trump said in a social media post.
Talks to Begin Friday
In an interview with ABC News, Trump said he expects the talks to start on Friday and move quickly. The discussions follow Pakistan’s announcement that both U.S. and Iranian delegations will arrive in the country after agreeing to a two-week ceasefire that suspended six weeks of conflict.
Federal Probe Threat
Trump also hinted at a federal investigation into unnamed individuals he accused—without presenting evidence—of circulating correspondence that he said did not form the basis of the ceasefire agreement.
The closed-door nature of the talks underscores the sensitivity of the negotiations as both nations work to secure a long-term settlement while maintaining strategic leverage in the region.
