Norwich Fight Back to Beat Millwall and Keep Play-Off Hopes Alive

Norwich City staged an impressive second-half comeback to defeat promotion-chasing Millwall at a packed Den, boosting their slim chances of reaching the Championship play-offs.

Millwall Strike First After Tactical Change

After a dominant but goalless first half from Norwich, Millwall took the lead shortly after the break. Manager Alex Neil introduced striker Mihailo Ivanovic at half-time, and the substitution paid off in the 56th minute when the Serbian forward finished from close range following a well-delivered cross.

Despite being second best in the opening half, the home side capitalized on their opportunity to move ahead.

Norwich Respond with Impact Substitutions

Norwich boss Philippe Clement also made a crucial half-time adjustment, bringing on Mohamed Toure — a decision that proved decisive.

Toure played a key role in both goals for the visitors. First, Pelle Mattsson leveled the match with a powerful long-range strike that left the goalkeeper with no chance.

Soon after, Toure provided another assist, setting up fellow substitute Oscar Schwartau, who calmly converted to complete the turnaround.

Dominant First Half Pays Off

Although Norwich trailed early in the second half, their strong first-half performance laid the foundation for the comeback. The visitors controlled possession with over 60% of the ball and created several chances.

Josh Stacey came close with a tight-angle effort that drifted just wide, while Kenny McLean forced a save from goalkeeper Anthony Patterson after being played through on goal.

Play-Off Race Heats Up

The victory marks Norwich’s seventh win in their last nine away matches, keeping their play-off ambitions alive as the season enters its final stretch.

For Millwall, the defeat is a setback in their push for automatic promotion. With just two wins in their last five home games, they risk slipping out of the top positions depending on other results.

What’s Next

Millwall will look to recover when they travel to face West Bromwich Albion next, while Norwich prepare for a crucial East Anglia derby against Ipswich Town — a match that could significantly impact the promotion race.
