Vladimir Kolokoltsev has arrived in North Korea for official talks aimed at strengthening cooperation between the two countries.
According to Russia’s interior ministry, the visit will focus on expanding collaboration in law enforcement and internal security. Kolokoltsev was welcomed in the capital Pyongyang, where meetings with North Korean officials are expected to take place.
The trip highlights the growing relationship between Russia and North Korea in recent years. Ties between the two nations have deepened significantly since Russia’s 2022 invasion of Ukraine, with both sides increasing political, military, and strategic cooperation.
In 2024, Russian President Vladimir Putin visited Pyongyang, where the two countries signed a major “Comprehensive Strategic Partnership Treaty.” The agreement includes provisions for mutual defense and closer coordination across multiple sectors.
As part of this partnership, North Korea has reportedly provided military support to Russia. Reports indicate that thousands of North Korean troops were deployed to assist Russian forces in regions affected by the conflict with Ukraine.
Kolokoltsev’s visit is seen as another step in strengthening bilateral ties, particularly in areas related to security and law enforcement. While specific details of the discussions have not been disclosed, the talks are expected to reinforce cooperation between the two governments.
The growing alliance between Russia and North Korea continues to draw international attention, especially given its potential impact on global security and geopolitical stability.
