Wout van Aert Outsprints Tadej Pogacar to Win Paris-Roubaix

Wout van Aert claimed a dramatic victory at the Paris-Roubaix after beating Tadej Pogacar in a thrilling sprint finish at the Roubaix Velodrome.

The two riders broke away from the main group with around 50km remaining in the grueling 260km race, setting up a head-to-head battle for the title. In the final moments, Van Aert launched a powerful sprint that Pogacar could not match.

Late Attack Decides Epic Battle

The decisive move came inside the velodrome, where Van Aert used his remaining strength to surge ahead of the four-time Tour de France champion. The Belgian rider held his lead to secure one of cycling’s most prestigious one-day victories.

For Pogacar, the result means he is still missing a win at Paris-Roubaix, one of the five “Monument” races he has yet to conquer.

Tough Race Filled with Drama

Known as one of the hardest races in cycling, Paris-Roubaix once again lived up to its reputation. Riders faced rough cobbled roads, dusty conditions, and multiple setbacks throughout the race.

Pogacar encountered several issues, including multiple bike changes, which disrupted his rhythm. Meanwhile, Mathieu van der Poel, one of the favorites, lost valuable time after suffering a puncture.

Podium Finishers

Jasper Stuyven finished third, while Van der Poel recovered to take fourth place.

Emotional Victory

After the race, Van Aert described the win as a dream achievement. He also dedicated his victory to the family of Michael Goolaerts, who tragically passed away during the race in 2018.

The win marks a major milestone in Van Aert’s career and highlights his persistence among cycling’s elite competitors.
